Tracking of Progression for Jason

3rd June 2011
During the session, Jason went to look for informative book and very quickly picked a few. I was very happy and felt that Jason was the most serious this time round. He sat down and read quietly, until I asked him to read aloud, he read a paragraph or two, then went back to silent reading again.

20th May 2011
Jason once again went back to the same old time when he did not want to read. Throughout the whole session, he was flipping through pages and seemed uninterested. When I wanted to move to flashcards, he refused and said he didn’t like flashcards. I was confused.

13th May 2011
Jason once again went back to the same old time when he did not want to read. Throughout the whole session, he was flipping through pages and seemed uninterested. When I wanted to move to flashcards, he refused and said he didn’t like flashcards. I was confused.

29th April 2011
When I told Jason that we are going to play a small game instead of reading, he was very happy. This session was very enriching as he was very interested in the flashcards and we interacted a lot.

15th April 2011
Jason lacked focus today, and he seemed to be unwilling to read. He took a long time to find a book and by the time he found a book, we have very little time left. It is very disappointing as he did not seem to be caring if we have little time.

8th April 2011
Jason once again took very long to find a suitable book. As such, he only managed to read a chapter of the book. Also, he refuses to read out loud and I have no idea what to do, which was very disappointing.

1st April 2011
Jason once again took very long time to look for a book, as well as finishing one. This poised as a challenge to us as that means the time we have during the session is shorter. He also lacks concentration and I presume it is because he does not have interest in reading. However, he did improve in knowing the definition of words.

25th March 2011
During the first session with Jason today, I realised that there is not much of a problem for him pronouncing the words correctly. However, he is unable to understand the meaning of many difficult words. This is a problem as he did not voice out his doubts and did not even bother trying to find out the meaning of the word. On the other hand, Jason takes a very long time to search for a book to read, and he took 15 minutes to find a book, leaving us with only 45 minutes left. His attention span is also very short and therefore we have to take breaks in between so as to let him concentrate again.
