This session, I set an aim to teach him how to arouse the feelings of the listener with the tone of speech.
I thought him how to read with emotions so that it will be more imagery and arouse the feelings of people who listen. However, probably due to his age, he was unable to successfully express the feelings. This session is not very fruitful as he was unable to adequately express the feelings of the book.

This session, I set an aim to improve his fluency in reading as well as using a set of Primary 6 flashcards.
During the previous session, the set of Primary 3 flashcards were too easy for him. Therefore, I prepared a set of Primary 6 flashcards. This time, it was not that easy but he still managed to finish the flashcards, with some hints here and there. Although his reading has improved, but his tone was not good, thus unable to arouse the emotions of the listener.  The flashcards were pretty well prepared and it was just nice to challenge him, and yet not defeat him. His fluency in reading may have improved, but he was not reading it with emotions and expressions, which is what I'll focus on the next session.

This session, I decided to introduce flashcards to him. Therefore, I prepared a set of Primary 3 flashcards since he's currently studying Primary 3.
The flashcards although for primary 3, was too easy for him. As such, the session became very boring and dry. Therefore, I went back to the traditional reading of books. He read the books with a better fluency and that is very encouraging.

This session, I set an aim to improve his fluency in reading as well as voice projection.
Over the past few sessions, I realised that Angus has the tendency to choose short stories, instead of fiction books. Short stories are too easy for him and therefore I asked him to look for books under the teenager section. The books may be a little challenging for him, but it will benefit him. To my surprise, he was able to read the book, although without much fluency. I'm quite contented with the session today as Angus was able to read books from the teenager section and this goes to show that he is improving, from reading short stories, to books way above his level.

I realised Angus is very creative, and as part of evaluating progress and success, I decided to let Angus try changing the ending of a story.
I chose a book for Angus today instead, as I want to make sure that the book is suitable for him to complete the task that I'm going to give him. When he first knew that he has to change the ending of a story, he was very reluctant. I was disappointed as once again he lacked confidence. However, I asked him to try, and he actually did a pretty good job. I intend to ask him to be a volunteer for phase 2 as well. I am very contented with his performance today. Even though he has absolutely no confidence in himself, he tried to change the ending of the story. He actually did a very good job and I'm very proud of him.

This session, I set an aim to improve his fluency in reading as well as voice projection.
Angus came today and told me he wants to read about animals. Therefore, we went to search for books regarding animals and he managed to pick a few. In the course of reading the book, I introduced to him the 1 second rule for commas, as well as the 3 second rule for full-stops. He is a fast learner, and his reading became more fluent. This session is very fruitful as I felt that Angus improved in his fluency of reading, which is one of my aims before the session. It is also very encouraging that he knows what he wants to read every session, and that'll save time from choosing books to read.

This session, I set an aim to improve his fluency in reading.
Angus was very quick in settling down and picking a book to embark. However, I realise he does not project his voice loud enough, probably due to the lack of confidence. He rushes into reading the words without pausing at punctuations and that's an area of concern. Today wasn't very fruitful as he rushed through the book and did not pause at punctuations, which idealy he should. Also, I realise he does not project his voice loud enough and that'll be another problem to be tackled.

I feel nervous as this is the first time I am doing this reading session and I kept thinking of “what should I do if this happens”. I felt quite lost as I did not prepare myself should anything go wrong.
I was glad when I found out that Angus’s command of English was very good and he has a very strong foundation. However, I felt that he lacked fluency in reading and does not have confidence in himself.
Angus is a very good kid, with a very strong foudation of reading. He lacks fluency in reading and that will be what I'll be focusing on throughout the project.
